Off to a good start....

So some of the incidents that happened during our 2 weeks of summer band camp include but are not limited to the following:
  • Our band captain passed out while marching, falling face first onto the parking lot, and his head bounced off the ground. Yes, really. My hubby the band director saw it happen. He busted some teeth, and sliced open his chin. He had to go to dentist that day and also had to get stitches in his chin.
  • Multiple kids vomited and got 'sick' because they drank milk for breakfast that morning, even though they were told not to....go figure.
  • A copperhead snake joined band rehearsal one evening, slithering across the field while the band was standing at attention. Nobody screamed. Now that's discipline!
So, now that all of that fun is finally over, ...bring on the new schoolyear! School officially started yesterday for the school where my husband works as a Band Director. It was a little chaotic, but that happens every year, right? Back into the heat those kids went, practicing once again on that hot parking lot. I will share a few pics with you of their first day back and afterschool practice:

My hubby standing in front of the kids during marching warm-up. I told him he looked like a football coach with that hat on...ughh, lol.

Taking a break...don't they look so hot and miserable, lol?
Chillin in the back of the truck...

So our 2 year old son joined in on the fun, as he often does. He ran around in his onesie, throwing his ball and drinking 3 bottles of water. I am very fortunate to have parents that are willing to help watch him during marching band rehearsals so that I can work with the colorguard. We have awesome parent support!
Jaren decided to climb into the instrument storage shelf...he fits perfectly!

Stressing Daddy out by looking through the books and DVD's on his shelf in his band office...

So that about wraps it up for the first day of school! I still have not started my part-time band teaching job, which is at a private school in the next town. We start next week. Until next time...
